For the Love of Cinnamon

How is Cinnamon doing with Connor? I'm sure you are wondering...
She is doing great! She loves that I am at home during the day. When we first came home she was quite curious about the baby. She sniffs his car seat and things in his room. She stays by my side all day long, except in the morning when she'd rather nap then anything else.
She runs up the stairs and stays at my feet when I'm feeding Connor, and still loves to be under the blankets on the couch when Bill and I are downstairs watching TV. Bill has nicknamed her "black lightning" because she runs circles in the living room when she gets excited.
Dachshunds are supposedly notorious for being bad with children, but Cinnamon has proved her breed wrong again! She is the quietest little dog I know, and she's doing a great job with the new family member. :)

Doctor's Appointment

Connor's one month appointment was today! I thought it was going to be a disaster because it was during nap time, but he was a trooper - in fact, he was nice and quiet the whole time - he was looking all around and I think he liked getting to hang out in just his diaper! :)
He is 9 lbs. 13 oz. (48th percentile)
We'll take his picture next month in the Boppy to compare his size.
He is 22.5 inches long (74th percentile)
I couldn't resist putting this picture in - I'm not sure what he is so worried about, but I think it's a funny one!
He got the stamp of approval from the doctor - everything is looking good!

He's so big!!!

One Month

Connor is one month old today! He is getting bigger everyday - here is a picture of him in the hospital trying to wear an outfit that was way too big, and then a picture of him taken yesterday in that same outfit -only now it fits!

Connor is starting to hold his head up without support. He is a good eater - every 2 1/2 hours during the day and about 4 hours through the night. He moves his head to follow my voice and Bill's voice. He can focus on objects in front of him and his best friend (other then Bill and I) is our bedroom ceiling fan. :) He is getting better at being on his belly, although it's not his favorite thing. He does well in the car - and anything else that has movement - the swing, the bouncy seat, and the stroller.

We love you Connor and can't wait to see what happens next!

Thursday Morning

It is SO nice outside today - 64 degrees - that I decided we would go for a walk.
I knew Connor needed to be in something warmer - so I put him in the 'snowsuit' Bill and I bought for him...
which reminded me of a particular scene from "A Christmas Story" when Ralphy has to put on a pink bunny costume.

Can I please take it off!?!?!
Fine Mom, I'll wear it, but I don't have to be happy about it.

Now I can't even see! (of course I rolled the top up so he could see)

Well, we made it outside, and around the neighboorhood! :)

Something else happened this morning too - "the art of the self-soothe"

This happened when Connor was still in the carseat, but I was putting the stroller part away... he started crying, but then...

Such a busy morning!

We've made it to Three Weeks!

Today Connor has his "three week birthday" - hard to believe it's been that long already... but it seems like a long time ago that I was pregnant! Here's some highlights from the week...
Connor says "it's been a crazy week"!
Tuesday - Grandma Barton came to visit for a few days - we're glad she is here!

Wednesday - Bath night! :)
Thursday - we went to visit Dad at school - everyone was excited to meet Connor.
Friday - "whew... what a week!"

Super Bowl Sunday!

Connor is decked out for the game tonight - Outfit compliments of Grandma and Grandpa H, pacifier and socks compliments of Great Grandma Ritter, and blanket compliments of my friend Janet. We went out yesterday and completed the look by finding a terrible towel for him!

Alison had the idea of putting Connor in the Steelers Hardhat. He just fits! :)

Our Help

Alison (and Chloe) spent the week with us after Connor was born. She helped us with EVERYTHING. Because of Alison, our laundry was done, dishes were taken care of, we ate meals on time, Connor was taken care of, our house looked presentable for neighbors who visited, and everything else I can't think of at the moment!
Here is a few pictures of Alison's stay.

Thank you Alison! We were sad to see you go, but you helped us get to a point where we could be by ourselves! Without your help we probably would be lost. We love you!

New Year's Eve and Christmas Part 4

The end of our Christmas break we had the Barton family come "over" to spend New Year's Eve weekend with us.
We celebrated with a lasagna dinner, then played Wii games and talked and wore our party hats to count down to 2011.

Alison, Kevin, Bill, me, Carissa, Scott, Michelle, Mom B., Dad B.

Saturday morning we woke up and had "Christmas".

Cinnamon got a Steelers jersey from Michelle! Just what she needed!!
Michelle opening our present - Vera! :)
Chloe opening her doctor's kit
We were spoiled again this year with lots of wonderful things!! :)

After presents and lunch, the boys went shooting and the girls had pedicures!
The Winter Classic hockey game was played on Saturday evening, and Scott and Carissa and Daisy came over (with all their Bruins gear on) to watch Pgh. vs Wash.

Sunday morning we took a family photo before heading to church.

We had a great time visiting with all our family this Christmas season. We are looking forward to more visiting when Baby H arrives!!
