Band-aid TRAMA

So, Connor had a little incident while helping unpack from our recent camping trip.

He was helping me unpack the bathroom box, and inbetween bringing me the toothpaste, and the shampoo, he picked up Bill's razor.  I had forgot it was in there - he normally uses an electric one - so it slipped my mind to take it out before Connor started helping.

Connor handed it to me, and then went back to the box.  When he brought me the next thing, it was covered in red... so I put two-and-two together and realized he must have cut himself with the razor.

Mind you, he had not made so much as an eyebrow raise while he was bleeding.  Just carrying on like everything was normal.  I put his hand under the sink, and called Bill for help getting a band-aid for the tinny tiny little scrape on his finger.

Well, when Bill went to put the band-aid on, because it was still bleeding and we needed to keep the pressure on to help it stop - the waterworks started.  Crying, screaming, wiggling.  Tantrum is the word I'm looking for.  You would have thought we were going to make him bleed.  Oh wait...

So, band-aid #1 was abandoned in the bathroom and I took him into the office to watch some Thomas the Train and keep pressure on his finger.  When it finally stopped bleeding, he kept wanting to touch it... so, back into the bathroom I went for band-aid #2.  This time, I didn't go for a small one, I went for a regular sized band-aid.  With the help of Bill holding his hand, I was able to put it on, but it was kinda...messy.

He was again, throwing a fit until we told him he would have a hot dog and a pickle for lunch.

This is where the video finds us, at lunch, after holding his hand near his plate for a while, and he was eating peacefully... he remembered the band-aid.

Helping

This past week while it was raining outside, Connor found interesting things to keep himself busy inside.

Can you tell I was dusting the living room... and he wanted to help?

hysterical!  He was cracking me up with these socks on his feet!  I use old socks as dust rags and he wanted to join in the chore fun of dusting the living room.

Garden

Well, Gardener Bill has nursed his garden back to health after we were away and it was very very dry here...

Things are back to being green and healthy.  And rabbit free (see the new wire fencing?).

Here Connor, go give this to Mom.

Okay.

Do you...

...want..

some broccoli?? ;)

finger paint flop

My first "pinned" idea from Pinterest that I actually did with Connor...
turned into a mom-fail.

Haha.
He honestly stayed outside for maybe 3 minutes.
He hated the finger paint.

Good thing I had zero expectations on how it would go.
Good thing I also spent maybe 3 minutes making the finger paint!

Here are the pictures to prove it:

1. We get outside, he is excited to see what I have for him,
and even more excited that I let him take his shirt off!

2. I showed him what to do with the cups of paint - dip your fingers in, smear it on the paper.

3. Not liking the paint on his hands... even though he was interested when I was painting...

4. No no Mama.  Done. Done. Done.

Oh well, maybe "cloud dough" will be better!
And... we'll try finger painting again.

oh my, oh my...

"And I said,
he's mine
that one
Got a wild-haired side and then some
it's no surprise what he's done
He's ever last bit of my old man's son (or... in this case, Daughter)
And If you knew me then
There'd be no question in your mind
You know he's mine
Yeah he is"

Taking a break from his normally happy-go-lucky approach to life...

Connor has decided to unleash the horror that is 18 months.

On this, the second week of evening grad classes for Bill.

And it thunderstormed tonight.

So I just turn up the Christian Praise Music a little louder, and sing louder then the whinning.
:)

 Bring it on Son.

I'm more stubborn then you....and you're mine! ;)

On a completely unrelated note,
My piano student WROTE her OWN SONG :) :) :)
Yay!!!

Blocks in the Box

The joy is not playing with what is inside those cool plastic blocks from Aunt Alison,

The joy is in moving the blocks from one box to another.
