Beach #2!

Our second trip to the beach this year was to Virginia Beach, for the 3rd annual visit with Mark.
We had a great time hanging out and catching up with Mark and his girlfriend Sarah. :)
Our visit started on Friday night with a Rebecca St. James concert at Mark's church.
Then we went to the boardwalk and walked around a little bit.

Saturday was Beach day. We went in the morning and didn't leave until late afternoon.
Bill enjoyed the waves! :)
We also went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner on Saturday.

Sunday was record highs - 109 degrees, with a heat index making it feel much hotter.
We went to church in the morning, and then chilled out in the air conditioning at Mark's house in the afternoon for a bit. The crazy men went frisbee golfing (why??) and then we headed down to the boardwalk area to experience "Beach Street USA" and fireworks.

Sarah and Mark

An act provided by Virginia Beach for "Beach Street USA" - he swallowed fire!!! (as if it wasn't already warm enough...)

Monday morning we got up and packed up our things. Mark left us in charge of Charlie, his puppy - and he did exactly what he was supposed to! :) Once we were ready to go, we thought it would be fun to take one more last look at the beach, so we went and laid on the sand for a while, listening to the Navy planes and watching the waves... our last trip to the beach as just us - next year there will be a baby! Things at the beach will never be the same!

Thanks for a great trip Mark! We had a great time and hope to see you and Sarah again soon!

16 weeks

So as of yesterday, I'm "officially" (according to the doctor's office) 16 weeks along.
What does that mean exactly?
Here is an excerpt from the book What to Expect When You're Expecting:
With a whopping weight of anywhere from 3-5 oz and a length (crown to rump) of 4-5 in. your baby is growing up fast. Muscles are getting stronger (you'll start to feel movement in a few weeks), especially the back muscles, enabling your little one to straighten out even more. Your baby-to-be is looking more and more adorable, with a face that has eyes (complete with eyebrows and eylashes) and ears in the right spots. What's more, those eyes are finally working! Yes, it's true: Your baby's eyes are making small side-to-side movements and can even perceive some light, though the eyelids are still sealed. Your baby is also becoming more sensitive to touch. In face he or she will even squirm if you poke your belly (though you probably won't be able to feel those squirms just yet).

Catching up

We went to Pgh for the fourth of July. Here are some highlights from the weekend.

Bill and I at the Mars Parade - photo compliments of my cousin Erin.

"Yinz gatta Regatta" - so we did! Saw the speedboat races, and then enjoyed a Italian dinner with Mom and Dad B at Buca. :)

On the fourth we went to my Grandma B's house and then went sailing with Uncle Warren and Aunt Sue - Bill braved the waters at Moraine - and thoroughly enjoyed the swim!

On the fifth, we stopped by to give Ethan and Lindsey their birthday presents and I managed to get a few 'updated' pictures of the nieces and nephews. :)

This weekend Mom and Dad Hoffman came to visit us.

Bill and Dad H worked on some projects - hanging two light fixtures - one in the dinning room, and one in our bedroom.

We also enjoyed good food, seeing the sites in Hanover, and hanging out. :)

These two make a great team!

Next weekend it's off to the beach with the Barton's, then to the beach to see Mark - we just love summer vacation!!! :)
