Ta-Da!

My weekend project ~ flower bed #1

It started out with random tall green leafy plants... randomly placed in the old mulched flower bed around our light post.

First steps - transplant the plants into some kind of pattern,
and clear the old mulch.

Oh yeah, and weed.

Then I added the new mulch.

Next came the flowers - yay!

Ta-Da! Finished product!

Bill's weekend project was changing the brakes - and yes, I actually took a picture of that too -

we really needed new brake pads and I'm forever grateful to my husband who saves us a boatload of money by changing them himself! :)

He's also busy on a woodworking project (thanks in part to a new jig saw) but I'm not allowed to tell you what it is! :)

That's all for now - I'm going back to the basement to stay cool!

Today's pictures

Okay... so my gardening isn't done yet, so I don't want to reveal those pictures...

Which is a good thing... because Blogger is being weird and won't let me upload anything at the moment....

Hmmm...

I'll try again tomorrow!

Holy Moly

These last few weeks have been crazy! We are finally enjoying a lazy Saturday morning, and getting ready to complete some yard projects this afternoon. I had two projects due on Thursday for my grad class, and the technology was not being my friend, which made it even more stressful... anyway, I'm planning on taking pictures of our progress this afternoon and then blogging again this evening.

Sorry if you've been waiting for some updates - I promise some pictures are coming soon!!!

This Girl's "Best Friend"

I know, I'm supposed to have diamonds for a best friend.

Trust me, I love the diamonds I have, but they are not my "best friend".

I have my flips. Flip Flops that is. I LOVE wearing them.

I love that they are easy, comfortable, but still are considered "real" shoes.

They are also one of the cheapest kind of shoe to buy.

Which is why Bill should love them too! ;)
p.s.
For the record, that's one black, two navy blues, three browns, two tans, one white, one gold, one orange, pink slippers, and my latest purchase, purple leather (but they have a strap in the back... does that count?)
grand total: 13 glorious pairs of flips!

My collection of painted eggs displayed in the living room

Bill doing yard work - and I did some too!!

Birdfeeder is now up and outside the kitchen window!

The weather this week was incredible - shorts, tank tops, and flip flops were all dug out of the summer clothes storage - we hit 86 degrees at least Wednesday and Thursday. :)

Happy Birthday Dad H.!

Bill's dad's 60th birthday was on the 31st of March. We celebrated on the 27th with a party for family and friends. Here are some pictures of the evening. There was a Soda Shop theme to the party complete with hats, decorations, and snacks. The invitation invited party attenders to have a "scoop" to share, and Bill incorporated a science demo in his Scoop.
Happy Birthday Dad! We Love You!

Quilt

This year at my school we were asked to submit a "priceless item" for the silent auction. I decided to make a quilt with my student's art work on the squares.

Here is how it turned out!

I'm going to post more pictures soon - this is just the first one I took :)

Visitors :)

Justin and Randi came to visit us for the weekend - the 12th through the 14th.
Friday night we visited and caught up on what has been going on with them in the TWO years since we've visited last! It honestly didn't feel like that long...but we figured out it was...
Saturday we ventured out to a Hanover hot dog shop for lunch and enjoyed the local favorite "Famous Weiner Lunch" (I kid you not, that's actually what it is called), after being brave around the "regulars" we fit right in. :) We enjoyed a day of Wii games and chatting.
Sunday we went to church and then Justin and Bill went to play football with some of our Hanover friends... in the mud and rain. Randi and I stayed at the house and stamped cards to our heart's content, all afternoon long, it was lovely.

Group shot - right before they headed home.

Randi made some very nice looking cards. :)

Notice the mud.

Smiles always follow a good football game.

Newest fish are up next...

Fish Update

New Fish!
Bill brought home some fish from the aquarium at school.
I told him when we got the tank that I didn't care what kind of fish we got as long as at some point we could get a Molly.
One of few things I remember about the fish tank we had growing up was the black Molly fish, and the Tetras, and the snails.
I also like to name our fish, so here are more details on that part too!
Anyway...
So far we have Black Tail, Minnie, and Blue.
I named the two big Mollys the other day - Spots and Dots. Spots is the lighter one, Dots is the darker one. The medium and small ones don't have names yet...

Do you see the little baby?
It has a dark tail and it's under the yellow plant.
We have three babies - two lighter ones and a darker one.
We have six Mollys in all now - the small ones, the medium speckled one in the background, the black one in the front (Dots)...and...
(also in this picture is Blue, the Mickey Mouse fish)

a big speckled one (Spots) too.
(Dots is tagging along, and Black Tail is in the background)

Other then the fish, I've been busy making a quilt to auction off at our school carnival raffle. I had all the students design a quilt square, and I went out and bought fabric to finish it last night. When it's all sewn together, I hope to have a picture to post and share with you!

Curtains

I've been working since we moved in to add curtains in every room. Here's what we have so far!

Living RoomI bought this one at the store - the flowers on it match with the paint color almost perfectly!

Kitchen door (that goes onto the deck)I made this one on my machine, after copying my mother-in-law's design. :)

Dinning Room
I bought this "scarf" at the store.

Office
I made these when we first moved to Maryland.
They used to be in the living room of our first apartment.
I cut off the bottom half to make sure the light was still able to get in.

Bedroom
These I got at the store ~ they are supposed to block the light and the sound...
not sure they block sound, but it's really not that noisy... so it doesn't matter.
They are kind of boring, but they coordinate with our bedding set.

Craft Room
I made these ones!!!!

I love the fabric ~ here is a close up!

I need to make another one for the other window above the kitchen sink and I need to buy one for the other window in our bedroom... but other then that I'm finished!!

Okay.... so getting all those picture in order took way too long!

I'll post about the fish tomorrow!
